Vacating their homes for sale in Markham to move to their new properties are probably the most stressful days in the lives of most ordinary families. There's so much to do that inevitably something - or someone - ends up falling through the cracks, and family members end up snapping at each other. But it doesn't have to be this way. With a little preparation, moving day can run like a well oiled machine. Here are some tips on turning your moving day from a chaotic mess to a tightly run ship.
Don't Leave Anything Until the Last Minute
In the weeks leading up to moving day, you'll find yourself thinking thoughts like: "oh, this is such a small job. I can do this in the morning before we move." Resist these thoughts, or before you know it you'll have the lawn to mow, the toys to pack, the interlocking stones to fix, and the packing lists to write in the two hours before the moving company arrives. It's just not possible, so leave nothing to do on moving day but actually shifting boxes from one place to another.
Get Help
If you have a family, it's going to be impossible for you to move all the boxes and furniture from one house to the other AND corral your children and pets. Therefore it's essential that you hire a moving company to transfer your things from the old house to the new one you bought off the Toronto MLS. You'll still need to be around to supervise, however, so if your kids are too young to even let you do that, you'll need to enlist the aid or a friend or relative to help you with the pets and children.
Delegate Jobs
If your children are older, they should be incorporated into the moving process. Every member of the house hold should have a job to do on moving day. You don't need to give each other printable name tags, but do sit down ahead of time and explain the whole plan to everyone. Older children, for example, can be in charge of transferring fragile items to the family car and driving them over to the new house or of looking after younger children. School age children can even have jobs like directing the movers where to put boxes or looking after the family pets.
Expect the Unexpected
No matter how comprehensive your plan is, there will always be something that goes wrong. Don't be would so tightly that you can't deal with a slight delay in getting out of your homes for sale in Bradford or a flat tire. Expect to have to adjust your plans on the fly and resign yourself to rolling with the punches.
